US inflation 2022

Technologies for calculating the inflation rate in the United States have changed from year to year. At this point in time, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is taken as the basis, which is calculated by measuring the actual cost of consumer goods and services.

These calculations are carried out by the US Department of Labor, publishing monthly research data. It is believed that this takes into account all factors, including the share of a particular product in the consumer basket of the population as a percentage of the total income of citizens. Of the minuses, it should be noted that the collection of such data is carried out only in large cities and does not take into account, for example, remote regions, where the cost of individual goods and services may change with a different dynamic than in megacities.

Besides, here's a quote:

» – Core inflation is the change in the cost of goods and services, excluding prices in the food (exchange and seasonal goods) and energy sectors.
“Food and energy prices are not taken into account because they can fluctuate wildly.”»

But that's not all. Many other costs are not included in the calculations, such as the cost of life and health insurance, rent and purchase of real estate, which are key to the basic expenses of the average American.

For example, when calculating Russian inflation, all of the above factors are taken into account without fail. Thus, the picture «in favor of the USA», based on a rather controversial calculation method, is formed.
