According to statistical studies, approximately one in a hundred American women and two in a hundred American representatives of the «strong sex» identify themselves as homosexual, and another 4% of US residents consider themselves bisexual.
Homosexuality is still quite a controversial topic in the United States and not all residents of the country approve of its widespread support from the authorities, but polls and discussions on various resources regarding its moral acceptability or the legalization of same-sex marriage show an obvious trend towards acceptance and tolerance of the LGBT community among the majority of the American population.
The number of people who, for one reason or another, tried to participate in same-sex relationships, has roughly doubled in the United States in the last 10 years, and the number of supporters of same-sex marriage — almost five times. As part of the study, 15,349 people over the age of 18 were interviewed, scientists asked ordinary Americans what kind of relationship they prefer, whether they have ever entered into same-sex relationships and whether they support the idea of legalizing marriages between gays and lesbians.
