Gasoline in the USA

The price of gasoline in the United States changes almost daily and depends on the results of trading in WTI oil on the New York Stock Exchange.

Currently, the cost of a gallon of «Regular» in America is the national average (USD):

There are several subtleties of converting the cost into units familiar to us, which differ in Russian sources, so the terminology needs to be clarified.

Gallon — originally the British system of measurement of volume, equal to 4.5461 liters. An American gallon of liquid is equal to 3.78541 liters. (data from Wikipedia https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallon).

There are also some discrepancies here. The average prices for gasoline in the United States are indicated for our analogue AI-92.

In the United States, the method for measuring octane number is different. In Russia and European countries, the research method (RON) is used. In America, it is determined by both the research and motor methods (MON) and they will find the average value (RON + MON) /2.

In addition to the above standard grades, there is also Midgrade/plus (89), which corresponds to our AI-94 in terms of properties.
