Covid US Travel Restrictions 2023

All passengers entering the US are required to be vaccinated against Covid-19. The requirement of the United States Department of Transportation Security has been extended until 04/10/2023.

All foreigners entering the United States, if they are not citizens of the country, are required to provide a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 in printed or electronic form.

It was previously planned that these restrictions would be lifted from January 8, 2023, but it was decided to extend them until at least April 10. Passengers who do not have a vaccination certificate will simply not be allowed to fly to the United States.

In addition, air passengers who arrive in the States from China, Hong Kong and Macau are additionally required to provide a negative test result for COVID -19. If you have not been to these countries within 10 days before your visit to the USA, you do not need to provide a test.

Vaccination certificate requirements for flying to the United States from the government website (www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/proof-of-vaccination.html):

Are you fully vaccinated for air travel to the United States? States?

You are considered fully vaccinated:

  • 2 weeks (14 days) after vaccination with a US recognized single dose vaccine

  • 2 weeks (14 days) after the second dose of the US recognized 2-dose series

  • 2 weeks (14 days) after how you completed a full course of vaccination with a US recognized COVID-19 vaccine (not placebo) in a clinical trial

  • after 2 weeks (14 days) after you have received 2 doses of any combination of US recognized COVID-19 vaccines given at least 17 days apart*

If you do not meet these requirements, you are not considered fully vaccinated. A booster dose is not required to meet this requirement. A person who received only one dose of an accepted 2-dose series and recovered from COVID-19 does not meet this definition and is therefore not considered fully vaccinated for travel to the United States.
